Intravascular lymphoma presenting as progressive paraparesis.
We present a patient with subacute progressive paraparesis secondary to intravascular lymphoma restricted to the spinal cord where initial laboratory and imaging studies were inconclusive. We emphasise the importance of a systematic approach to the diagnosis and highlight the utility of spinal cord biopsy to establish the definitive diagnosis of this rare but treatable illness.

A 57 year old woman living independently in the community presented with four years of progressive spastic paraparesis and dementia. An extensive evaluation for the usual causes of these difficulties was unrevealing, but her serum phenylalanine concentration was markedly elevated and genetic analysis demonstrated mutations in the phenylalanine hydroxylase gene consistent with classic phenylketo...
متن کاملLumbar Intramedullary Spinal Schistosomiasis Presenting as Progressive Paraparesis: Case Report.
OBJECTIVE AND IMPORTANCE Blood fluke infection or schistosomiasis affects up to 300 million people worldwide. Although infection of the hepatic and urogenital systems commonly occurs, central nervous system involvement is rare. When presenting in the spinal cord, schistosomiasis can be difficult to diagnose because it can present as mass lesion or transverse myelitis. We describe a patient with...

Intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (IVLBL) is a rare subtype of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma that resides in the lumen of blood vessels. Patients typically present with nonspecific findings, particularly bizarre neurologic symptoms, fever, and skin lesions. A woman presented with shortness of breath and a chest CT scan showed diffuse interstitial thickening and ground glass opacities suggesti...
متن کاملAutopsy-Proven Intravascular Lymphoma Presenting as Rapidly Recurrent Strokes
We present a 79-year-old Japanese woman diagnosed with cerebral infarction. In spite of enough antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy, she presented rapidly recurrent strokes three times for 3 months. Magnetic resonance imaging showed progression of bilateral cerebral infarcts, and chest-abdominal computed tomography showed multiple bilateral nodular lesions in the lung and multiple tumor lesio...
